When you e-mail or mail me your photo(s), please write a note to me letting me know who you (and also the other people, if any, in your photo(s)) are, where you are from / live, and anything else you'd like to tell me! I'd also love to hear about when, where, and / or how we met, and if I said anything interesting, profound, or funny to you and / or your group when you / they met me! In any event, I look forward to receiving your mails and e-mails — and (of course) seeing your photos!
Your friend,
Just to get this section started, I wanted to show a few photos that were taken during my first-ever book tour. I also wanted to show a photo of my Chinese name; an inspirational photo to me; as well as some photos of several pieces of artwork I created when I was in junior high school and in high school. Although in my life I did not become a professional artist in the sense of drawing or painting, I did obviously eventually become a professional author, and so even though today I am not creating beautiful images on paper like I did in the past, I am hoping that I am creating and will create beautiful images in the minds and hearts of the people who have read or who will read my Heroes of Destiny books. As time passes, I will add photos to this section, so please feel free to check this section regularly to see if I have posted any new images! :-) The photo above was taken during my first-ever book tour stop during my first-ever book tour. Specifically, it was taken on Friday, July 14, 2006 at the Chapters Bookstore in the Bayers Lake Business Park of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The photo above was taken on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at The Book Room bookstore in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Book Room is the oldest bookstore in the entire country of Canada. The Book Room was founded in the year 1839. It was a pleasure and an honour to be there during my first-ever book tour. The photo above was taken on Friday, July 28, 2006 in the Atrium of the Computer Science Building (CSB) at Dalhousie University. I performed a solo acoustic concert this night for my fellow Dalhousians — as well as anyone else who wanted to watch / hear me play — as a special 'thank you' to them for supporting me during my book tour stop at the CSB the week before. I played several songs that night, but based on where my left-hand's fingers are located, I'd say this photo was taken when I performed my opening song of "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses?" by one of my all-time favourite bands: U2. The photo above was taken in August 2006 during the final summer "Reading Tent" event held by Frontier College. I am a volunteer literacy and academic teacher / tutor with Frontier College, and at this final summer 2006 Reading Tent, we hosted a barbeque (BBQ) for all the children and parents of the Bayers-Westwood community of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Because it was the final Frontier College gathering for the summer of 2006, I sang and played guitar for all the volunteers, parents — and most importantly, the children — to listen to so that they would all have a good time as they played fun games and ate good food. It was truly a great day! :-) The photo above was taken on Sunday, May 13, 2007 at the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada's first-ever Princess Tea Party charity event, held at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. For this event, I was asked to be a special guest performer, playing the role of a knight — just like my character of Kevin in my Heroes of Destiny books. I was extremely happy and honoured to be able to help out at this prestigious event, and the event subsequently raised all the necessary funds to fulfill a special little girl's wish of going to Disney World with her family. The five photos above were taken on Thursday, June 21, 2007 during my first-ever public concert performance, which took place as part of the Summer Solstice Music Festival held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I performed five songs during my concert, and many of my friends and family were in attendance. I had an extremely enjoyable time singing and playing guitar that day (as you can tell in my photos!), and I hope very much to perform a concert again in the future! :-) The image above is of my Chinese name, which is Wong Wah Kin. My family name (Wong) means King or Emperor. My generation name (Wah) means strong foundation. My personal name (Kin) means good, kind, and prosperous. I just wanted to show my Chinese name to people in case they wanted to see it, or if they know how to read Chinese characters and hence they wanted to read it. The photo above is more just one I wanted to share with everyone rather than it having a direct relation with my Heroes of Destiny books. This photo is of me and Brad Gushue: the team captain of the Canadian men's national curling team who won the Olympic Gold Medal at the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy. When I met Brad the day I met him, I told him about my dreams in life, and as such, I told him how inspirational it was for me to watch him achieve his dreams of winning an Olympic Gold Medal — especially in an event that previously had never had a Canadian winner. After I told Brad this, he brought out his genuine Olympic Gold Medal for me to touch, and then — with his special permission that he gave only to myself and no one else — he asked me to and allowed me to wear his Olympic Gold Medal around my own neck. This photo is very inspirational to me, because it directly reminds me that as long as one works hard and believes in oneself, one's dreams can come true — no matter the odds, forces, or people against them. The photo above is of a painting I did in high school of my cat — Kitty — who I had my entire life (from the time I was a child, to when I was in University). After living a long, lovely life, Kitty eventually and unfortunately died in the year 2002. I miss him immeasurably. I just wanted to show him to everyone. The photo above is of an alternative-interpretation painting I did in high school of the same image I used to paint my realistic painting above of my cat, Kitty. Specifically, this photo is of a "Mondrian" style painting I did of Kitty. "Mondrian" is a painting style developed by Piet Mondrian, and in this style he strove to reduce all images to basic lines and colours. I was always fond of Mondrian paintings, because they are simple, creative, unique, and beautiful. Not everything in art has to be photo-realistic or complex; sometimes the best art is the most unrealistic or the simplest art. The photo above is of a pencil-only drawing I did right at the beginning of Grade 7 (i.e., in junior high school) of the famous baseball pitcher Nolan Ryan, who used to play for the Texas Rangers. I was only 12 years old at the time I drew and shaded this picture. The photo above is of a coloured-pencil drawing I did in Grade 8 of the Marvel Comics' / X-Men character Wolverine. I've always loved creative stories and things my entire life, and anything creative I ever saw, heard, read, or experienced in my life (including obviously comic books) inevitably helped me to create whatever I wanted to create in my life, including my Heroes of Destiny books. The photo above is of a water-colour painting I did in high school of a famous area from one of my all-time favourite video games: Final Fantasy VII. The in-game area depicted in my painting is called "Nibelheim", and Nibelheim is the town where the lead male and female characters (Cloud and Tifa, respectively) of the game are from. Even today — many years after I played this video game Final Fantasy VII — I still think of how incredible its storyline, characters, music, environments (such as this town of Nibelheim), ambience, and just everything in general about this game, were. It's great creations such as the video game Final Fantasy VII that directly make me want to make my creations — especially my Heroes of Destiny books — great too — and to stand the test the time. And so, I now leave it to you — my fans and future fans — to help me grow this Fan Photos section, by having you take a photo or photos of me, me and you, or you and my Heroes of Destiny books (or anything about or of me / mine for that matter), and sending that photo or those photos to me at my mailing address at the top of this page or at pics@kevinwong.ca!
